An escape to Bali.… Laidback Family Trip

View from a pool restaurant called Mu Bali, in Bingin. A nice spot to watch the sunset, have some drinks or spend the day with the kids by the pool.

Back to the Island Dream Life

A deserved summer holiday break

As soon as Australia's borders opened, we knew it was time to take a break and travel. Bali was our top destination to go, the beaches are so beautiful, the vibe of that island, it’s close to Australia and as we love good food, we knew it would be a treat.

We went in mid May so we could spend our (mine and my partner) birthdays over there.

Photo: Sunrise in Keramas. I didn’t miss one, so beautiful and peaceful.

We took 23 days off, which we ended up extending another 5 days because we were having so much fan.

We wanted to explore a little of the coast of Bali. Traveling with children has it’s "extra attention" when choosing where to stay, food, routes etc... well, if you have a child you know what I'm talking about...=) considering that he is almost 4 years old it was great apart from Uluwatu and Bingin stairs… Dylan’s is not a fan of stairs and he’s pretty heavy haha

He enjoyed so much spending the days under the sun, watching waves, swimming in the pool for hours and eating the best food - I love that he is a big eater and have actually a good taste for food! =)

Our Route

We took the following route, once we arrived in Bali we stayed in Echo Beach - Canggu for 3 days. I met an old friend, lots of great restaurants and cafes around, it was a great time. Then we drove 2 hours to Balian, a hidden gem in southwest Tabanan where we stayed for 3 days as well. It's a really quiet area and good for surfing, there’s a nice surf spot called Medewi just a little drive north from Balian, that’s really worth going to as well. There's a pool restaurant just at the front which is super hand. We spent most of the trip in Uluwatu and Bingin, which was our next stop, where we stayed for 10 days. I'm already missing these days so much! Feeling nostalgic writing this post… =)
From there, we went to Keramas, it was meant to be our final destination, but because we were having such a great time we’ve decided to extend the holiday for a bit. We stayed at Komune Resort in Keramas, which is definitely the best place to stay if you have a little one as the resort has everything you need and the surf point is right at the front where the main pool and bar area are located. Couples who are surfers and have kids, I would highly recommend staying in this amazing resort (they also provided babysitter service for AU$10/hour).Our last days we went back to Bingin / Uluwatu area that’s our favorite spot considering the area has lots of beach clubs, good restaurants and amazing surf and lookouts.

We ended up renting a motorbike to cruise around the island, Dylan was between us, and whenever we had to drive too far or drink, we would catch a taxi. You can download Gojek app to get taxis.

The best time

Bali was definitely a bliss. It was amazing to explore, spending the days in a bikini, beach all day long, photographing, having the best meals, surfing, doing yoga and really just spending slow days with the family and making sure we were having Bintangs every day!
